Based in Hong Kong, Asia’s leading independent business intelligence provider raised significant additional expansion capital from a leading Chinese growth capital private equity firm. Our key tasks included – preparation of marketing materials and the information memorandum; target identification and qualification; deal structuring and negotiations. The valuation agreed represented a significant premium for the existing shareholders.

Research and Marketing

Over a five year period we undertook in-depth annual research for this large, international corporate services client on the factors driving and constraining the off-shore incorporations market with specific reference to China. The product of the research became the centre-piece of this clients annual marketing plan including the provision of client events, webinars and public relations collateral.

Strategic Review, Turnaround and Disposal

This multi-phase, multi-year project was completed for a large multi-national financial technology and data company. It involved a strategic review of the MNC’s Hong Kong subsidiary, development of of turnaround plan and the sale of that business to a competitor in Malaysian. This generated significant once-off value as well as a long term distribution agreement with buyer

Christopher Chu

Christopher arrived in Hong Kong in 2007 after brief stints in Beijing and London. Originally from the United States, Christopher began his career working for the Walt Disney Company’s International Labour Standards Group in Los Angeles. He moved over to the finance industry first as an investment analyst for Hamon Investment Group before becoming a fund manager at Union Bancaire Privée, a Swiss private bank. As a European educated, Asian American, Christopher is a natural communicator, allowing him to translate foreign concepts and ideas into local terminology. This allowed Christopher to transition into financial journalism where he worked for the Motley Fool, and most recently served as Deputy Editor for FinanceAsia.

Christopher holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from Cambridge University. As an undergraduate, he doubled majored in Mathematical Economics and Psychology from Pitzer College in Claremont California.

Lisa Tsang

Lisa has 15 years’ experience as a research and analyst in information technology and market research. She has work on a number of projects for Thomson Reuters, Dow Jones and others in the media space. She was previously employed at the BBC and UBS.

She is a graduate in law from Huddersfield University in the UK and holds a Masters in Computer Science from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Helping a client establish one of the mainland’s most successful domestic private banks, and setting up its corporate university and strategy office, she implemented rigorous execution metrics and built core competences. Lara is an ardent advocate for entrepreneurs, having coached innovation competitions for the Bank of China, ICBC, Guangdong University of Finance and several other institutions.

Educated at Nanjing University, Lara was previously a producer and commentator on business and social programmes for CCTV. She was the founding producer of CCTV’s Economic 30 minutes.
